Teachers Bio's

Lila Boates (Owner/Director) Originally from East Bridgewater, MA, Lila studied many forms of dance at Paula Coffey dance Center, In Sync Dance Studio and Michelle's Studio where she was a member of their regional/national competition teams from 1990-1997. Her national competition experience includes Daytona Beach, Myrtle Beach, Virginia Beach and Boston in, both, cheer and dance.  Lila received the Greater Brockton Dance Teachers Scholarship in 1997 and went on to attend Salem State College. There, Lila received her BS in Fitness and minor in Dance in 2001. At Salem State she was an active member and President (2000-2001) of the Repertory Dance Theater and received the Presidential Arts Scholarship in 2000-2001. Her choreography credits include Salem State College (1997-2001), Salem YMCA (1998-2000) and the Studio for Dance (1999-2006) where she was the Dance and Company director of award winning competition teams.  Lila's choreography has been recognized throughout regional competitions with special awards.
 
Anne Moukalled (Instructor) Originally from Wakefield, MA, Anne began her study of dance at The Dance Studio of Wakefield. There she studied several styles of dance, both, at the recreational and national level. Accepted as a company member in 1988, Anne went on to receive many awards at competitions held regionally and nationally.  She began student teaching in 1996 and graduated in 1997 as a member of The Dance Teachers Club of Boston. Anne went on to dance at Salem State College where she continued her study of Nursing. In 2003, Anne started teaching at The Studio for dance where she remained until 2006, upon the opening of From The Top Dance Center. A graduate of UMASS Boston, Anne is currently employed at Children's Hospital in Boston, She remains an active member of TDTCB and is gracious to be living her dream as a dancer.
 
Jennifer Drake (Instructor) Growing up in East Bridgewater, Jen danced at Paula Coffey Dance Center under the guidance of her godmother and mother.  For fourteen years she studied Tap, Jazz and Ballet and after graduating High School (1998) she decided to further her studies at Dean College where she majored in Dance.  Jen studied Tap, Jazz, Ballet, Pointe and Modern and also received the Gregory Hines Tap Scholarship while being a member of the Tap Dance Company for 2 years.  In 2003, Jen took part in an off-Broadway show, Break the Floor where she took part in master classes/rehearsals and finished it up with the show.  After that she found herself wanting to get out there and teach.  She taught Master Tap classes throughout MA and RI and now teaches at studios in Worcester and From The Top Dance Center.  Jen is currently the Tap Company teacher for the Junior & Senior teams as well as soloists. S he is well loved and respected by all.
 
Katina McClain (Instructor) Katina received her BFA in Dance Education from Arizona State University. She has worked as a performer for Desert Dance Theater, Ahi Modern Dance Productions, and Mill City Dance (formerly The Studio for Performing Arts).  She conducts workshops in West African, Afro-Caribbean and Modern dance to private studio throughout the Merrimack Valley.  Katina worked as the Burlington High School dance Squad coach during the 2006-2007 seasons. She is currently performing, and working, with the Kelley Donovan dancers which is a Contemporary dance company.  She also dances with Soul Felt Expressions, a gospel and lyrical group, based out of Brooklyn and Cambridge. She is currently working on her Masters in Spanish Secondary Education with a focus on Afro-Caribbean dances at Salem State College.  Katina is From The Top Dance Center's Modern and Afro-Caribbean teacher. She is a great addition to our talented staff.
 
Elyse Williamson (Instructor)  Elyse has been, and continues, studying many forms of dance. Her studies include Ballet, Pointe, Jazz, Lyrical, Modern, Tap, Hip Hop, Acro and more. Elyse began dancing at The Studio for Dance (1999-2006) and From The Top Dance Center (2006-2009) under the guidance of Lila. She has been a competitive dancer for the last 8 years as a soloists and as a member of award winning teams. She has received Platinum awards for her solos as well as special judges awards in her groups. Elyse made her choreography debut in '08, along with her duet partner, and will continue to choreograph at the Dance Center as a new member of the teaching staff. Elyse graduated from North Reading High School in 2009 and continues her education locally to stay on the Dance Center's staff. She is well respected by younger dancers and will continue sharing her knowledge for years to come.

Laura Babcock (Instructor) A graduate from North Reading High School, Laura continues her studies at Merrimack College in Early Childhood Education. Her dance training includes Ballet, Pointe, Jazz, Lyrical, Modern, Contemporary,Tap, Hip Hop, Acro and more. Laura began dancing at The Studio for Dance (1999-2006) and From The Top Dance Center (2006-2009) under the guidance of Lila. She was a competitive dancer for 9 years on our HipHop, Lyrical, Contemporary, Tap and Production Companies as well as a soloists and student choreographer in duets and trios. She has received special awards as a soloist where she was recognized for her "Sparkling Personality" and her "Fierce Attack". Laura joins the Dance Center staff as a well received dancer and leader. Her contagious joy for dance will infect many students in the future.
